SPOT Calls for an End to Foreign Interference in Syria and an Immediate Cessation of Support for Jihadist Groups

The war in Syria has once again escalated, with devastating consequences for innocent civilians. SPOT (Solidarity with the People of Turkey) highlights that the primary actors fueling this conflict are the United States, the United Kingdom, Israel, and Turkey. These nations must immediately cease their interference in Syria and end their support for jihadist terrorist organizations.

Despite official denials, credible reports from the region demonstrate that the U.S., the U.K., Israel, and Turkey are providing direct and indirect support to jihadist groups. Turkey, in particular, has trained and directly backed the HTS (Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham) terrorist organization, even fighting alongside its forces. As a result, HTS has seized control of Aleppo, Syria’s second-largest city, forcing the Syrian army to retreat due to inadequate support from allies such as Russia and Iran.

Turkey’s actions not only exacerbate the ongoing conflict but also aim to suppress the Kurdish population, a group that has consistently advocated for peace and coexistence in the region. Alarmingly, Turkey is pursuing these objectives in collaboration with HTS, a group designated as a terrorist organization by the United Nations.

Furthermore, the U.S., the U.K., and Israel continue to use the chaos in Syria to expand their influence, prioritizing geopolitical gains over the lives of innocent civilians.

SPOT calls on all foreign powers, including Turkey, the U.S., the U.K., Israel, Russia, and Iran, to withdraw from Syria and cease their support for jihadist groups. Continued interference will only lead to more bloodshed and prevent the possibility of lasting peace in the region.

SPOT urges the international community to recognise the urgency of the situation and to prioritise the lives of the Syrian people over political agendas. Peace cannot be achieved until all external actors end their destructive involvement.
