With a sense of great triumph, the new Syrian government, backed by Erdoğan, continues its massacres.

Forces under the administration of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) have killed at least 745 Alawites, while the Turkish government continues to support this terrorist organisation.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) has reported that the number of Alawite civilians killed by jihadist forces under HTS control in Syria has reached 745.

SOHR stated that “since Thursday, 745 Alawite civilians have been killed in Syria’s coastal and mountainous Latakia regions by security forces and affiliated groups.” It also reported that 273 individuals from Damascus-affiliated armed forces and Alawite armed groups had also been killed, bringing the total death toll to 1,018.

The massacre of Alawites in Syria continues and is being ignored.

Since the regime change in Syria on 8 December 2024, a systematic and deliberate massacre of Alawites has been ongoing.

Since 8 December, Alawite villages in the rural areas of Idlib, Homs, Hama, and Latakia have been under siege, with residents facing the threat of death. Announcements made from mosques have specifically targeted the Alawite population, and the attacks have reached their peak. Women who have been kidnapped are subjected to the threat of rape, young people are tortured and disappeared, villages are burned and destroyed, and extrajudicial killings have become commonplace.

Western powers, who claim to stand against human rights violations and civilian massacres, must not remain silent in the face of this atrocity.
