As political repression deepens and democratic freedoms continue to erode in Turkey, questions about the country’s democratic future have never been more urgent. The Solidarity with the People of Turkey (SPOT) campaign invites you to its Annual Conference to explore these critical issues and discuss how international solidarity can make a difference.

The conference, titled “Has Turkey Waved Goodbye to Democracy?”, will take place on Saturday, 25 October 2025, from 10:30 to 15:00 at the NEU Headquarters, Hamilton House, Mabledon Place, London (WC1H 9BD).

Speakers include leading politicians, trade unionists, and journalists such as Alev Demirel (MEP), Levent Tüzel (EMEP), Berdan Öztürk (DEM), Lindsey German (StWC), Hakki Özdal (Journalist), Christina Blower (Baroness), Bahadır Özgür (Journalist), and Simon Dubbins (UNITE) — alongside many others.

This year’s event will examine the ongoing attacks on press freedom, workers’ rights, and democratic institutions in Turkey, as well as the role of the international community in standing up for justice and solidarity.

Join activists, academics, journalists, and trade unionists for a day of discussion, debate, and collective action.
