Migros workers who have gone on a de facto strike at many warehouses across Turkey are demanding humane working conditions. Thousands of Migros workers who do not accept the 28% raise that was announced are also calling for improvements in working conditions.

Work stoppage actions that began in Migros warehouses under the leadership of the Warehouse, Port, Shipyard and Maritime Workers’ Union (DGD-SEN) have spread to many provinces, especially Istanbul, Izmir, Adana, Bursa, Kocaeli, and Diyarbakir. The workers who stopped working say they want wages that will allow them to live with dignity.

Workers living at the hunger threshold say their net salaries are around 37,000 TL, and that due to tax brackets, their wages quickly lose value. While workers’ bread is shrinking, Migros continues to grow.

In the second quarter of 2025, the company’s sales revenue increased by 5.68% to 92 billion TL. Compared to the previous quarter, sales revenue rose by 16.9%. In the second quarter, gross profit increased by 10% year-on-year to 21.9 billion TL, while the gross profit margin rose by 0.95 points year-on-year to 23.86%.
