On 12 September, under the operation dubbed “My Family Is Safe,” the Erdoğan and AKP government used the judiciary and law enforcement agencies to carry out overnight raids targeting human rights and LGBTI organisations, as well as numerous human rights defenders.
While many people were detained, one of the latest targets of the digital censorship campaign carried out alongside these operations was the X (formerly Twitter) account of the daily newspaper Evrensel.
Access to the X accounts of numerous organisations, including Amnesty International, Academics for Peace, and Lawyers for Justice, has also been blocked.
Erdoğan has intensified the crackdown in an effort to win the next election once again.
Every day, dozens of opposition figures are detained, while arrests are being carried out in violation of the Constitution.
