Workers at Doğtaş Furniture in Biga, Çanakkale, and at Kelebek Furniture in Düzce, both subsidiaries of Doğanlar Holding where the Öz Ağaç İş union is organised, have stopped work over their promotion payment entitlements. The promotion is a payment that workers are due to be paid in return for agreeing to receive their wages through a specific bank determined by the employer.

Furniture workers announced that they will not return to their workstations until the promotion payments, which are guaranteed under the collective bargaining agreement, are fully paid.

In a statement by Öz Ağaç İş, the union said, “We will continue to escalate our actions until workers receive their rightful entitlements.”

Union officials stated that workers were paid only 23,000 of the 69,000 lira they are owed. They emphasised that workers will not resume work until the remaining 46,000 lira is paid in full.
